Camping Arrangements
We camp in four circles around four separate fire pits in the positions of North, South, East and West. When you arrive at the Field you decide which of these circles will be your home for the rest of the week. You can expect to be camping with between 22 and 30 people in each circle. People take their time, walking round each circle and meeting the other campers before deciding where to place their sleeping space. Each circle is separate from the other circles but are all within sight distance of each other.
What to Bring
You will need to bring your own sleeping space, whether that be a tent, yurt, caravan, van, bender, etc and bedding, along with a food contribution for the week, whether that be food or money for food. If you need any provisions there are local shops nearby. You will also need to bring cooking utensils and other camp necessities.
Circle Life
Circle life has been known to include: playing music together, singing together, dressing up, laughing, telling stories, pampering each other, massaged, nail painting, going river swimming, sunbathing, face painting, porridge fights, football and many more things. Your circle life is what ever you want to make it. The friends that you make at Midsummer Camp tend to remain your friends for years to come.
Beautiful Things
Midsummer Camp is all about enjoying yourself so please bring with you things that you enjoy; dressing up clothes for yourself and others, materials & beautiful items to decorate your circle and your circle shelter, musical instruments & songbooks, arts and craft items to share, gazebos, really anything that you would like to help make your holiday more luxurious. We will send a more comprehensive list nearer the time detailing all the items to bring.
Food
Each circle has a central fire put where the meals are cooked. Circles tend to cook communally, although not always for every meal and mostly for the evening meal. People take it in turns to cook, peel, fetch water, chop wood, go to the shops for more provisions or anything else that needs doing. Most meal times are when every one sits down together around the fire to eat, talk and catch up on their day's happenings. Each circle caters for anyone who has any special dietary needs - all you have to do is let your circle know about your requirements when you arrive.
Community
Each circle becomes your community for the week. One way that this community grows is when you circle has a 'sharing' after the evening meal. It is when each person has an opportunity to share something about their day in a succinct manner and talking from the heart. There sharings are a really good way to get to know the people in your circle and it helps forms close bonds. Of course, if you don't want to share you don't have to.
Also to encourage the Camp community to grow we ask that no friends or family are invited onto the Field during the week unless they have a ticket and are staying for the whole week with you. We also ask that everyone stays for the entirety of the week from
Saturday to Saturday and only to go off the field is absolutely necessary (i.e. for food,
etc). This means that you are able to absorbed by the Midsummer Camp experience and
fully relax without any outside influences interrupting you.

Half Day Work
In order to help the camp run as best it can each adult participant is asked to work a half day in a given area of their choice. Rather than this be a burden, it is fun, enjoyable and gives everyone a role within the camp. The areas to work in are:
