What's This Year's Theme?

This year Midsummer Camp's theme is all about appreciation and acceptance whether that be yourself, of others or something else that feels pertinent to you. The theme's flavour will be tasted in the workshops, the areas, your circle life, and in the ceremonies. You can come prepared with an idea for it or you can just wait and see what happens for you.

During Each Day

Drama Workshop
Midsummer Camp has daily timetabled workshops led by experienced teachers. There are workshops in the morning and afternoon and there are some sessions in the evenings too.

During the afternoon the 'Areas' open; the Nurturing Area, the Children's Area, the Craft Area, where there are a variety of things on offer.

On some evenings there will be singing, dancing, feasting, celebrating and other such exciting frivolities. Please see below for more information.

 Daily Workshops

5 Rhythms Dancing with Live Musicians - this year led by the amazing Sophia Campeau-Ferman, who was with us last year and was tremendously enjoyed by all. 5 Rhythms Dance is a type of meditative dance devised by Gabriel Roth where you dance a 'wave' of 5 rhythms; flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical, stillness. There are no steps to learn and the teacher gives instructions during the workshop. Roth describes the practice; "It is a soul journey, that by moving the body, releasing the heart and freeing the mind, one can connect to the essence of the soul, the source of inspiration in which an individual has unlimited possibility and potential."

Live Acoustic Music for 5 Rhythms - will be facilitated by an amazing group of 3 or 4 musicians who have played live for 5 Rhythms for many years. The live musicians play the waves so fantastically that it adds a magical extra dimension to your journey.

Cuddle Workshop - led by James Lockley. The workshops will be an opportunity to explore some innocent and fun physical connections together, we will use paired and group exercises to create magic!

Comedy Improvisation Workshops - with Dick Neale are guaranteed to raise a hearty laugh, finding new and exciting ways to dramatise the ordinary.

Intimacy Workshop - Akiko Ono, Graeme Malone & Jacky Moss. An chance to experience a fun, sincere and tender exploration of intimacy, safely held by experienced facilitators.

Guaranteed Hugs - hugs with one person, hugs with many people or even just a chance to give yourself a hug. You'll come away feeling great.

The Areas

Picture
Nurturing Area - is a tranquil place with a hearth space for sharing, holistic therapies, and workshops offered by the camp participants. It is a place where people can meditate, sit around the fire, feel comforted or just relax into the ambiance of the field. There will be a space for holistic therapy sessions, a group workshop space and possibly another space for holistic therapy sessions.

Children's Area - will be facilitated by a children's worker who will be offering daily afternoon workshops for children of all ages, doing things such as; making things, painting, dressing up, face painting, game playing, story telling and other such things. The children will be given choices each day so that they can decide what they would like to do.

Craft Area - Paper, pens, ribbons, wool, glue, glitter, string, tissue paper, jars, paint, clay and much more for making and creating into beautiful things to wear and share. Workshops on garland making and face painting will take place too to get ready for the Feast and Fire Ceremony.

Other Happenings

Picture
Daily Council - a daily held space where you can share your experience with others. It is not group therapy, more an opportunity to speak from your heart. It is a beautiful thing to be part of and to witness.

Whole Camp Feast - each circle will cook a meal and we'll eat the feast together as the whole Camp, with dressing up, music, laughter and frivolities.

Camp Participant Offerings - we welcome any spontaneous workshops from the Camp participants, who knows what might be on offer. Previous years offerings include a women's group, men's group, Gestalt dream, healing circles, nail painting, sweat lodges and overtone chanting.

Ceremony - a magnificent ceremony will take place on Midsummer's Day that will involve each circle taking part in making and creating something for the ceremony. There will be dressing up, singing, dancing, and some magic too.
